Winnslie Parkway
Winnslie Parkway runs along North Ravenswood Avenue, stretching over 600 feet long and 40 feet wide from Winnemac to Ainslie Streets beside the Metra Union Pacific–North rail line.
Winnslie Parkway is a unique green space — a community-led landscape that has transformed a neglected, overgrown stretch into a vibrant garden open to the public. Funded through private donations and maintained by a dedicated, community-minded, local landscape company--Schanmier Landscape-- with support from local volunteers and the nonprofit Friends of Winnslie Parkway, the parkway features native and ornamental plantings, a lawn for rest and play, stone seating, and a peaceful walking path for neighbors, visitors, and wildlife to enjoy year-round.

A Garden in the City
Winnslie Parkway is maintained by Friends of Winnslie Parkway (FOWP) and is on the N. Ravenswood Ave Metra Railroad embankment between Winnemac and Ainslie Streets (hence "Winnslie"), just north of the Metra Ravenswood Station and south of Christy Gardens. A place to unwind, walk the dog, read a book, or meet your neighbors.

Our Volunteers
Our volunteers come from the Ravenswood community. Every Spring we host "Chip The Parkway" to restore the parkway with fresh wood chips. Spring and Fall cleanups are also part of maintenance. We also rely on volunteers to remove litter from the Parkway on a daily basis. Please contact us if you can join in or lend us a wheelbarrow or pitchfork.

Donors
Donations go to the Friends of Winnslie Parkway (FOWP) which is a 501c3 charitable organization whose mission is to provide volunteer support and funding to maintain and improve Winnslie Parkway. The donations we collect pay for fourteen (14) mowings from the start of May to the end of October, and also cover Spring and Fall cleanups under contract with Schanmier Landscape Co.
